JOKES OF THE DAY

1.A child asked his father, "How were people born?" So his father said, "Adam and Eve made babies, then their babies became adults and made babies, and so on." The child then went to his mother, asked her the same question and she told him, "We were monkeys then we evolved to become like we are now." The child ran back to his father and said, "You lied to me!" His father replied, "No, your mom was talking about her side of the family."

3.A lady goes to the doctor and complains that her husband is losing interest in sex. The doctor gives her a pill, but warns her that it's still experimental. He tells her to slip it into his mashed potatoes at dinner, so that night, she does just that. About a week later, she’s back at the doctor, where she says, "Doc, the pill worked great! I put it in the potatoes like you said! It wasn't five minutes later that he jumped up, raked all the food and dishes onto the floor, grabbed me, ripped all my clothes off, and ravaged me right there on the table!" The doctor says, "I’m sorry, we didn’t realize the pill was that strong! The foundation will be glad to pay for any damages." "Nah," she says, "that's okay. We're never going back to that restaurant anyway."

4.Bob was in trouble. He forgot his wedding anniversary. His wife was really angry. She told him "Tomorrow morning, I expect to find a gift in the driveway that goes from 0 to 200 in 6 seconds AND IT BETTER BE THERE!" The next morning he got up early and left for work. When his wife woke up, she looked out the window and sure enough there was a box gift-wrapped in the middle of the driveway. Confused, the wife put on her robe and ran out to the driveway, brought the box back in the house. She opened it and found a brand new bathroom scale. Bob has been missing since Friday.

5. A married man was having an affair with his secretary. One day, their passions overcame them in the office and they took off for her house. Exhausted from the afternoon's activities, they fell asleep and awoke at around 8 p.m. As the man threw on his clothes, he told the woman to take his shoes outside and rub them through the grass and dirt. Confused, she nonetheless complied and he slipped into his shoes and drove home. "Where have you been?" demanded his wife when he entered the house. "Darling," replied the man, "I can't lie to you. I've been having an affair with my secretary. I fell asleep in her bed and didn't wake up until eight o'clock." The wife glanced down at his shoes and said, "You liar! You've been playing golf!"

Dismiss calls for independent investigation of AfDN chief Akinwumi Adesina - FG tells banks board

The Federal Government of Nigeria has thrown its weight behind the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, following calls by the United States of America for an independent investigation against him.
Dismiss calls for independent investigation of AfDN chief Akinwumi Adesina - FG tells banks board
Recall that while Adesina was cleared of allegations of embezzlement, preferential treatment of Nigerians in senior appointments and promoting people accused or found guilty of fraud and corruption by an ethics committee of the bank, US Treasury Department dismissed it and also wrote a letter urging the AfDB to carry out an independent investigation into the alleged ethics breaches by the bank's President.

However reacting to this, the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed appealed to the chairman of the Board of Governors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) to dismiss the call for an independent investigation of Adesina.

The letter reads in part;

“The call for an ‘independent investigation’ of the President is outside of the laid down rules, procedures and governing system of the bank and its articles as it relates to the Code of Conduct on Ethics for the President.
“As Board of Governors (made up of the finance ministers of member countries), we must uphold the rule of law and respect the governance systems of the bank. If there’s any governance issues that needs improvement, these can be considered and amendments proposed for adoption in line with laid down procedures.
“The Nigerian Government welcomes the conclusion of the Ethics Committee and the decision of the Chair of the Board of Governors.
“The Ethics Committee, following three months of work to examine the whistleblowers’ allegations made against the President, dismissed each and every one of the allegations of the whistleblowers against the President as unsubstantiated and baseless."

The Minister also listed some achievements of the bank's head which includes securing a General Capital Increase of $115bn, the largest ever in the history of the bank; he led the bank to develop a $10bn Crisis Response Facility for Africa to fight the Coronavirus pandemic as well as leading the bank to launch a $3bn “Fight COVID19” social bond, the largest US dollar denominated social bond ever in world's history.

Zainab Ahmed reminded the Board that Adesina “is the sole candidate for the election of the President of the African Development Bank which was to be held on May 28, 2020 but has now been postponed to 25-27 August 2020."

Twitter user seeks help as his brother has allegedly been detained by the police after trying to save murdered son of ex-Ondo military administrator
A Twitter user has taken to his handle to cry for help as his brother is allegedly being detained by the police for trying to helping a dying friend.

@omogunoriola in a Twitter thread said on May 13, his brother was with some friends at a joint when two masked men came in and shot Muyiwa Opaleye, the son of former military administrator of Ondo state, Brig.-Gen. Opaleye. He said his brother stayed back and tried to help save Muyiwa's life but that help is now looking like a mistake as he has been detained by the police since then.

According to reports, (read here) after Opaleye was shot, all of his friends allegedly abandoned him, save for one identified as Kunle, who ran back to save him.

He was said to have lifted him up, taken him to his (Opaleye’s) Honda City Sedan car and rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors confirmed Opaleye dead on arrival.

Unfortunately for Kunle, the Police at Soloki Station, Aguda invited him for interrogation. He was eventually detained and moved to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) Panti as a suspect.

According to his brother, omogunoriola, he is still in police custody. Continue to read his tweet below

'I would delete my Twitter in a heartbeat if we had a fair press'- Trump says while questioning why Twitter never censored Obama

US president Donald Trump, has taken his war against social media platform, Twitter, to another level as he revealed he would delete his twitter if it weren't for 'fake news', moments after he signed a new law against Social media companies on Thursday night.
 Donald Trump
Trump hit out at Twitter for not criticizing Obama for what proved to be false claims that people could keep their own doctors under the Affordable Care Act signed into law by Obama during his tenure as president.

He however praised Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, for stating that social media sites should not censor content posted to their platform.

Trump then said if it was legal, he would 'shut down' Twitter after signing an executive order that opens up social media sites to lawsuits by diluting their legal protection thereby making them liable for contents being censored by them on their platforms.

Trump's renewed attack on Twitter comes days after Twitter flagged two of the president's tweets, the first time the company was flagging any US politician's tweets . The platform provided additional information, although it did not take down the tweets.

Trump then blasted Twitter for trying to shut down ''conservative voices'' while promising to sign an executive order against the company, and on Thursday night did.Taking to his Twitter handle, Trump said;
''@Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is today criticizing Twitter. “We have a different policy than Twitter on this. I believe strongly that Facebook shouldn’t be the arbiter of truth of everything that people say online.” Did Twitter criticize Obama for his “you can keep your Dr.”?

In a follow up tweet, written in capital letters,  he added; "MAIL-IN VOTING WILL LEAD TO MASSIVE FRAUD AND ABUSE. IT WILL ALSO LEAD TO THE END OF OUR GREAT REPUBLICAN PARTY. WE CAN NEVER LET THIS TRAGEDY BEFALL OUR NATION. BIG MAIL-IN VICTORY IN TEXAS COURT TODAY. CONGRATS!!!

During the Thursday night press conference, Trump said;
'We're here today to defend free speech from one of the greatest dangers it has faced in American history, frankly, and you know what's going on as well as anybody. It's not good,' Trump said on Thursday night before signing the order, as Attorney General Bill Barr stood beside him.

Pressed on whether he would use the courts to shut down Twitter, Trump responded: 'I think this: if twitter were not honorable, if you're going to have a guy like this be your judge and jury I think you shut it down as far as I'm concerned,' in reference to Twitter's 'head of integrity,' who has been revealed to have posted tweets highly critical of Trump and top Republicans in the past.
'A small handful of powerful social media monopolies controls a vast portion of all public and private communication in the United States and we know what they are, we don't have to name them, we're going to give you a complete listing.'
He continued: 'They've had unchecked power to censure, restrict, edit, shape, hide, alter virtually any form of communication between private citizens or large public audiences.'
'We can't allow that to happen especially when they go about doing what they're doing,' Trump said. 'Because they're doing things incorrectly. They have points of view. And if we go by that it's actually amazing that there was a success in 2016, but we can't let this continue to happen. It's very, very unfair.'
'What they're doing is tantamount to monopoly you can say,' Trump claimed.
' It's tantamount to taking over the airwaves. Can't let it happen. Otherwise we're not going to have a democracy. We're not going to have anything to do with a republic.'

Trump also tried to use the power of federal purse strings as pressure, saying we 'are not going in any social media company that repress[es] free speech.'

He said the government  spends 'billions of dollars on giving them money' and called the firms 'rich enough,'
'We're going to be doing none of it or very little of it,' Trump said.

Asked if he would consider simply deleting his Twitter account given his concerns, Trump said he would 'do that in a heartbeat' if we had a 'fair press' in the U.S.

'Twitter now selectively decides to place a warning label on certain tweets in a manner that clearly reflects political bias,' said the order. 'As has been reported, Twitter seems never to have placed such a label on another politician's tweet. As recently as last week, Representative Adam Schiff was continuing to mislead his followers by peddling the long-disproved Russian Collusion Hoax, and Twitter did not flag those tweets. Unsurprisingly, its officer in charge of so-called 'Site Integrity' has flaunted his political bias in his own tweets.'
'Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube wield immense, if not unprecedented, power to shape the interpretation of public events; to censor, delete, or disappear information; and to control what people see or do not see,' it said.

The law also revealed a new  'working group' that will, among other things, evaluate media organizations with evidence of 'bias' being used to review content. '
'Complaints described in section 4(b) of this order will be shared with the working group, consistent with applicable law. The working group shall also collect publicly available information regarding the following: (iv) reliance on third-party entities, including contractors, organizations, and individuals, with indicia of bias to review content,' it says.

Man shares horrifying video of the moment his 60-year-old uncle was shot 4 times by police in their front yard (video)

A man took to Twitter to share a horrifying video showing the moment Howard police officers shot his uncle 4 times on Wednesday, May 27, only days after Howard police shot a man dead after a traffic stop.

Police in California shot the 60-year-old man in his own front yard. The incident occurred just after noon on Wednesday in Hayward, about 30 mins east of San Francisco.

The 13-second clip shows the man, in his 60s, in a tense stand-off surrounded by five armed officers with guns drawn, just feet away.

The officers can be heard shouting "put it down" as the man appears to be holding something over his head.

Soon, officers used taser on the man and witnesses are heard screaming in reaction. Almost immediately, the sound of gunfire is heard multiple times.

The woman behind the camera is heard screaming multiple times at this point as the man crumples to the ground.

The victim's nephew shared the footage on Instagram and on Twitter. He said cops claimed his uncle had a gun but there was no gun on him.

He wrote: "FUCK YOU @HaywardPD these bitch ass pigs put 4 shots in my uncle after tasing him n tried to say my uncle had a gun! WHERE THE FUCK IS THAT GUN IN THIS VIDEO???! THEM PROCEED TO RAID MY AUNT N UNCLES HOUSE LOOKING FOR SAID “GUN” FUCK @HaywardPD  FRFR."

When asked by a follower if the police found anything, he insisted they didn't.

"Nope only thing they found was pictures of my uncle and his motorcycle crew they're gonna use those to paint him a certain way but my uncle was a mechanic he was always working on his projects or riding with his buddies you know how this media shit bout to play out," he wrote.

The victim was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.

In a statement, Hayward Police confirmed the shooting, its second in the space of a week.

It claimed officers were responding to reports of "a man on a motorcycle was chasing someone and banging on doors in the neighborhood."

"Our officers located the involved man. During the contact, an officer discharged his service weapon after the man approached officers with a weapon," Officer Claudia Mau said. "At this point, we are still investigating to determine what else led to that outcome."

She said the department would not release any identifying information on the officers involved while the incident was being investigated.

"Anytime the Hayward Police Officers use force, regardless of degree, it is a serious matter that requires a thorough investigation," she said, adding that Alameda County District Attorney’s Office had been notified and would be conducting an independent investigation.

The previous Wednesday, Hayward Police shot a 20-year-old man dead after a traffic stop turned deadly.

Hayward Chief of Police Toney Chaplin confirmed at a news conference afterward that the dead man had been sought in connection with another fatal shooting of a 65-year-old homeless man on May 1.

Below is a video of the May 27th shooting.

FG sued by Power Distributors Over Business Interference

Electricity distribution companies have dragged the Federal Government to court to restrain it from further interfering in the corporate business activities of the power firms.
According to the firms, the government, through the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission and other agencies, had been interfering in the corporate activities of the Discos, a development, they claimed, had hampered their smooth operations.

Senior officials of some of the power firms told our correspondent in Abuja on Thursday that the Discos resolved to take the matter to the court.

Nigeria’s power distribution firms include Abuja, Benin, Eko, Enugu, Ibadan, Ikeja, Jos, Kaduna, Kano and Port Harcourt Discos.

“We cannot continue to fold our arms and watch how the government through its agencies sustain their undue interference in our corporate business activities,” an impeccable source with one of the Discos stated.

The official added,

“The NERC, TCN (Transmission Company of Nigeria) and even NEC (National Economic Council) are often interfering in Discos’ activities, and we need to ask the court to call them to order.”

It was gathered that the Discos were asking the court to restrain the affected agencies from interfering in their businesses unless the boards of the power firms were duly consulted.

Officials of the Discos told our correspondent that the court order had been served on the affected agencies, adding that the power firms were also asking the court to NERC from sending forensic auditors to their firms.

“It Will Not Be Well With You And Your Generations” – Hushpuppi Blasts Reps As Buhari Seeks Fresh $5.5 Billion Loan

Nigerian Big man and Instagram sensation, Ray Hushpuppi has berated the Nigerian Government for seeking approval for a fresh loan of $5.513 billion.
In a letter read by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, at the plenary on Thursday, May 28, the president said the loan was to finance the 2020 budget deficit, financing of critical projects, and supporting some states of the federation.

The news elicited a wide range of criticism from Nigerians and Hushpuppi later took to his social media page to lampoon Nigerian leaders.

Hushpuppi wrote;

“This time I’m not even going to blame or focus my strength or time on dumb Buhari, this time it’s to all the Reps and senators who will approve this loan again after a recent one was just approved and we don’t know where it went.

Any of you reps and senators that will vote for this loan to be approved should know it will not be well with you and your generations, as you all plan to help the future nigerian kids in poverty before even being born, your own children will suffer before your eyes. Bastard people wey e no go better for all of una together”

Senate: We Are Not Quick To Approve Buhari’s Loan Requests

The Senate spokesman, Ajibola Basiru on Thursday debunked reports that the senate chamber is always quick to approve loan requests from President Muhammadu Buhari.

Making the clarification while speaking with newsmen shortly after the plenary, Basiru said the latest loan request took the senators about six weeks of intense scrutiny before it was granted approval.

Basiru spoke hours after President Muhammadu Buhari sent a letter, seeking a $5.5 billion loan was read by Senate President Ahmad Lawan.

“I think it is not correct to say that the senate is usually quick to approve loan requests by the executive. I will take us back memory lane, the last of tranche of loan request which are normally composed of domestic borrowing and external borrowing,” he said.

“It took the senate committee of a period of five or six weeks to scrutinise the request and all agencies that are supposed to expend the money were requested to appear for specific projects to which this borrowing was attached to and the details were requested by the senate.

“I want to say in all sense of responsibility that we are not quick to approve the request [loan request] – there is a lot of misinformation about the reclassification of the source of the initially N850 billion external loan. What the Senate did on the floor when we resumed after the COVID-19 lockdown was just to approve that the initially approved loan should be sourced from domestic markets because of the vagueness of the international market.

“It is not empirical to say we are quick, at the same time we must also get one thing right. Senators are also Nigerians. we are also citizens and we must also be patriotic.”

jokes of the day

1. A boy is selling fish on a corner. To get his customers' attention, he is yelling, "Dam fish for sale! Get your dam fish here!" A pastor hears this and asks, "Why are you calling them 'dam fish.'" The boy responds, "Because I caught these fish at the local dam." The pastor buys a couple fish, takes them home to his wife, and asks her to cook the dam fish. The wife responds surprised, "I didn't know it was acceptable for a preacher to speak that way." He explains to her why they are dam fish. Later at the dinner table, he asks his son to pass the dam fish. He responds, "That's the spirit, Dad! Now pass the f*cking potatoes!"

2.Late one night a burglar broke into a house and while he was sneaking around he heard a voice say, "Jesús is watching you." He looked around and saw nothing. He kept on creeping and again heard, "Jesús is watching you." In a dark corner, he saw a cage with a parrot inside. The burglar asked the parrot, "Was it you who said Jesús is watching me" The parrot replied, "Yes." Relieved, the burglar asked, "What is your name?" The parrot said, "Clarence." The burglar said, "That's a stupid name for a parrot. What idiot named you Clarence?" The parrot answered, "The same idiot that named the rottweiler Jesús."

3.A lawyer runs a stop sign and gets pulled over by a sheriff. He thinks he's smarter being a big shot lawyer from New York and has a better education than an sheriff from West Virginia. The sheriff asks for license and registration. The lawyer asks, "What for?" The sheriff responds, "You didn't come to a complete stop at the stop sign." The lawyer says, "I slowed down and no one was coming." "You still didn't come to a complete stop. License and registration please," say the sheriff impatiently. The lawyer says, "If you can show me the legal difference between slow down and stop, I'll give you my license and registration and you can give me the ticket. If not, you let me go and don't give me the ticket." The sheriff says, "That sounds fair, please exit your vehicle." The lawyer steps out and the sheriff takes out his nightstick and starts beating the lawyer with it. The sheriff says, "Do you want me to stop or just slow down?"

4.There is an overweight guy who is watching TV. A commercial comes on for a guaranteed weight loss of 10 pounds in a week. So the guy, thinking what the hell, signs up for it. Next morning an incredibly beautiful woman is standing at his door in nothing but a pair of running shoes and a sign about her neck that reads, "If you can catch me, you can have me." As soon as he sees her, she takes off running. He tries to catch her, but is unable. This continues for a week, at the end of which, the man has lost 10 pounds. After this he tries the next weight loss plan, 15 pounds in a week. The next morning an even more beautiful woman is standing at the door, in similar conditions. The same happens with her as the first woman, except he almost catches her. This continues for a week, at the end of which he, as suspected, weighs 15 pounds less. Excited about this success, he decides to do the master program. Before he signs up, he is required to sign a waiver and is warned about the intensity of this plan. Still he signs up. The next morning, waiting at the door, is a hulking 300 pound muscle man with nothing but a pair of running shoes, a raging erection, and a sign around his neck that says, "If I catch you, you're mine!" The man was supposed to lose 25 pounds in the week; he lost 34.

Lagos will see decline in number of COVID19 patients in four to six months time - Commissioner for Health, Akin Abayomi

Professor Akin Abayomi, the Lagos state Commissioner for Health, says the state will begin to see a significant decline in the number of COVID-19 cases in four to six months.
Lagos will see decline in number of COVID19 patients in four to six months time - Commissioner for Health, Akin Abayomi
Abayomi disclosed this when he spoke at the 2020 Ministerial Press Briefing in commemoration of the One-Year Anniversary of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's assumption of office on Wednesday, May 27.
''It is difficult to predict the end of COVID19. When we are going to see our peak is also dependent on the profile of the outbreak. We are watching what's happening across the world and using the pattern of the outbreak in different environments to try and reach some kind of modelling pattern to when we are going to peak and when we are going to see the end of the outbreak.
We believe that a period of four to six months is a reasonable period by which we should start to see a significant decline in the number of COVID19 cases that we pick up in Lagos. By that stage, many people would have been exposed to the virus and therefore the virus will have less of an opportunity to infect people because they would have developed some degree of immunity to the virus and that would signify the end of COVID19'' he said

Lagos State remains the epicenter of COVID-19 in Nigeria with 4012 confirmed cases.

White Minneapolis man loses his office lease for 'racially profiling' black entrepreneurs inside a gym (Video)

A white Minneapolis man has lost his office lease after a group of black entrepreneurs accused him of racially profiling them inside a private gym.

The incident occurred on Tuesday at a building on Lagoon Avenue in Minneapolis. It came a day after the killing of George Floyd by a white Minneapolis police officer.

In the video, Tom Austin, the managing partner of F2 Group questioned the black entrepreneurs using the gym in a building of which they were all tenants.

“I’m Tom Austin,” the man says in the video. “I’m a tenant in the building. Are you?”

The men in the group responded that they are all tenants.

Austin demanded to know which office they work in and they told him they don’t have to tell him. Then he said he was going to call 911 but ended up calling the building manager who confirmed the men have a lease in the building.

In an Instagram post, the men accused Austin of “racial profiling and age discrimination” and tagged the building’s Instagram page.

“We are sick and tired of tolerating this type of behavior on a day-to-day basis, and we feel that we had to bring light onto this situation,” they wrote

“Should have handled it differently,” he said in an email to the Tribune. “Not my job to have done anything.”

He denied being a racist and said he trying to uphold a building policy that allows only tenants to use the gym and other amenities in the building. He said he saw one of them open the door to the gym with a key fob and let the rest in before the group got “aggressive.”

"I said, 'I’m sorry you thought I was being racist, but I was not. If you were a bunch of women, I would have done the same thing,'" Austin told the Tribune.
