South African rapper Cassper Nyovest and his fiancee Thobeka Majozi have welcomed their first child together.

The rapper had taken to Instagram on Sunday evening, September 13, to post a picture of himself dressed in medical scrubs and preparing for the birth of his son. The photo came with the caption “Let's f*cking go”.

The rapper had announced in June that he and Thobeka were expecting their first child together, as he shared a photo of an ultrasound on an album cover.

Cassper wrote then;

“I'm going to be a father any minute now so I decided to name my album AMN (Any Minute Now). The album cover is an actual scan of my son in his beautiful mother's womb.

“I am excited about this album, but I'm more excited about being a dad to a beautiful baby boy."

The album was released on Friday September 11.

Obasanjo is Nigeria’s ‘divider-in-chief’ - Garba Shehu

 Obasanjo is Nigeria?s ?divider-in-chief? - Garba Shehu

Presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu has also reacted to former President Olusegun Obasanjo's statement in which he alleged that Nigeria is becoming a failed state under President Buhari.

In a statement released on Sunday September 13, Garba Shehu alleged that Obasanjo has made several attempts to divide the nation while Buhari continues to promote unity and nation building.

The Presidential spokesperson also went on to list some of the achievements of the Buhari-led administration.

Read the statement below;

OBASANJO IS NIGERIA’S DIVIDER-IN-CHIEF

In his most recent statement former President Olusegun Obasanjo attempts to divide the nation while President Muhammadu Buhari continues to promote nation building and the unity of Nigeria.

The difference is clear. From the lofty heights of Commander-in-Chief, General Obasanjo has descended to the lowly level of Divider-in-Chief (to adapt the coinage of Time).

Before responding further to the unfair attacks on President Buhari and his administration by the former President, it is important that we categorically state that contrary to the assertions by a few analysts, the recent speech in which President Buhari advised West African Presidents against tenure elongation beyond constitutional limits has been consistent with his long held views on the need to adhere to the rule of law.

Even though he tried it and failed, the recent uptick in the number of such leaders proposing to do, or actually carrying on in office beyond term limits is sufficient to cause concern among democrats in the sub-region given its prospects of destabilizing the states and the region.

President Buhari’s advocacy is consistent with his principles and in line with the current policies of his administration and indeed that of the ECOWAS Charter which is that term limits must be respected and that the change of government is only permissible through the ballot box.

Having cleared this misperception, we hope that Chief Obasanjo would once again sheath the sword and rest the pretentiousness about the Messiah that has (mis)led him to pronounce often wrongly, as he disastrously did in the 2019 elections, about the life and death of Nigerian governments.

As some commentators are already suggesting, Chief Obasanjo should, in accordance with his mantra as a statesman, get involved with problems solving, when and where they exist instead of helping the mushrooming of a poisonous atmosphere of ethnic and religious nationalism.

Surely, he must have disappointed many of his local and foreign admirers by showering commendations on a few extremist groups who have vowed to shun the invitation to the National Assembly to participate in the process of constitutional amendment.

No doubt, he must have left those admirers confused in announcing the support for the boycott of a democratic process of changing the constitution, at the same time calling for dialogue and engagement.

The fact that the process he ushered in under his administration with the dubious intention of amendments that sought tenure elongation failed-as did two other attempts by the successor administrations of the same political party- does not in any way justify his dismissal of the exercise by the 9th Assembly as a another waste of time and resources.

To the credit of the All Progressives Congress-led 8th Assembly, the process of constitutional amendment was kickstarted and carried through, paving the way for, among other benefits, the financial independence of local government councils, States Houses of Assembly and the country’s Judiciary. These changes have already been signed into laws by the President as mandated by the constitution.

The recent decisions by the administration as they relate to subsidy withdrawal, helping to plug some of the most horrendous notorious holes and release of scarce resources for the more pressing needs of the people has also not escaped the ire of the former president.

It’s a known fact that the withdrawal of subsidies had been on the wish list of the Obasanjo-led Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. They failed in achieving these measures because, one there was a shared greed. They plundered the treasury as much as anyone could in the name of either subsidy or waiver with reckless impunity.

Two, is to say it takes courage and rare statesmanship on the part of a leader to do as President Buhari to shun populism and seek the best interest of the people and the state, providing the kind of reform and development that Nigeria urgently needs.

This President has run an administration focused on infrastructure and development. He has repaired our damaged relations with neighbours and our traditional allies such as the UK, US, China, Russia, France, Germany, Saudi Arabia and the others with lots of benefits to the country.

It is a pro-business administration that has used diplomacy to unlock bilateral trade and investment.

He leads a government that has liberalized the investment climate and market access by achieving reforms that have placed the country in the list of the world’s top reforming economies.

Nigeria, which other nations had mocked and ridiculed for so many things that were wrong is today progressing at a pace reflecting its size and potential.

With so much to show and many more coming, it is little surprise that President Buhari would be the object of envy and harsh unfair challenges by politicians who failed to deliver, but continue to nurse ambitions of delighting the audience long after their curtain has been drawn.

FG kicks as Health Workers begin Nationwide strike today

FG kicks as Health Workers begin Nationwide strike today

Health workers under the aegis of the Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) have begun their planned strike, to press home their demands.

The action took effect at 12 a.m on Monday, September 14.

JOHESU President Josiah Biobelemoye, who confirmed the strike to newsmen, said the health workers had given the Federal government a 14-day notice of the impending strike but they failed to meet their demands.

Biobelemoye said the demands of the health workers include COVID-19 hazard allowance; withheld salaries; non-adjustment of the CONHESS salary structure; implementation of several court judgments; and repairing of several decaying health structure and infrastructure across the country.

Biobelemoye said a meeting held with the Federal government on Sunday, September 13, ended in a deadlock, so all health workers are to down tools beginning from today.

'The 15-day ultimatum still subsists, and with effect from midnight of Sept. 13, 2020, our members shall withdraw their services due to the government’s inability to meet their demands,” he said

However, the Ministry of Labour and Employment has described the strike by the health workers as illegal and ill-timed. In a statement released by its Deputy Director of Press and Public Relations, Charles Akpan, the Ministry directed JOHESU to shelve the planned strike, saying going ahead with it would be illegal.

The statement titled, ‘FG declares JOHESU strike is unnecessary, ill-timed and illegal’, partly read:

“Parties in disputes are expected not to arm-twist, intimidate or foist helplessness on the other party while negotiations are ongoing as per sections 8 and 18 the of Trade Dispute Act 2004 barring any strike when the matters are before a conciliator and undergoing conciliation.

“Any strike now is inimical to an equable settlement of the dispute, bearing in mind, especially, that this is a grave period of a pandemic where the Federal Government has spent about N20 billion to pay April/May 2020 and an additional N8.9b for June 2020 on COVID-19 hazard and inducement allowances, respectively, to all categories of health workers that are mainly JOHESU members.”

Paris Saint-Germain vs Marseille Ligue 1 game ended is a complete chaos as Neymar and four other players were given red cards and sent off the pitch at the Parc des Princes.

On Sunday September 13, headlines of racism, spitting and red cards emerged from what should have been a footballing exhibition in the French capital.

The game was so chaotic that 36 fouls were committed and 12 yellow cards handed out inside the 90 minutes before a fight  between Argentine pair Dario Benedetto and Leandro Paredes grew into an all fight.

Brazilian soccer star, Neymar was one of three Paris Saint-Germain players to get a red card after he slapped an opponent and then claimed he was racially abused.

Neymar was involved in a constant spat with Alvaro Gonzalez all evening. The Brazilian and the Spaniard then came head-to-head in stoppage time before Neymar clipped him round the back of the head.

The Brazilian slapped Gonzalez on the back of the head, while Layvin Kurzawa and Jordan Amavi also traded blows.

The referee then showed a straight red to Neymar, Kurzawa and Amavi for their roles the fracas. Bei Paredes and Benedetto were also ordered out of the field after picking up second bookings.

PSG then had to play out the final minutes with eight men, while Marseille played with nine.

Marseille thought they had made it 2-0 through Dario Benedetto but the linesman's flag saved the day for PSG. They also had a goal ruled out through Angel Di Maria.

Nigerian police reacts after a man in a police uniform was filmed smoking shisha in public

The Nigerian police has reacted to the viral video of a man smoking shisha in public while wearing police uniform.

The video was circulated with a caption claiming the man is a police officer.

Reacting to the video, the Nigerian police promised to investigate to find out if it is indeed a police officer, a skit/movie scene, or a civilian dressed in police uniform. They promised to take action after the investigation and asked members of the public with information to reach out.

The Nigerian police tweeted: "RE: Viral video of a man in Police “uniform” smoking shisha - Police Commence Investigations The Nigeria Police Force has commenced investigations into the viral video showing a man wearing what appears to be a Nigeria Police “uniform” smoking shisha.

"The investigation will amongst other things seek to forensically establish the authenticity of the video, the true identity of the man in the uniform - whether he is in fact a policeman, an impostor or an actor in a movie scene.

"However, while not being prejudicial to the ongoing investigations, it is necessary to state that the character exhibited by the man in the uniform is not a true reflection of who we are as a regimented law enforcement agency - our trainings, discipline, norms and tradition.

"Meanwhile, members of the public with useful information that can assist police investigations are enjoined to provide same via the following; pressforabuja@police.gov.ng, or DM on our social media platforms.

2 siblings allegedly rape 7-year-old girl in Anambra

2 siblings allegedly rape 7-year-old girl in Anambra

Chidimma Ezeokoli, aged 23, and his 11-year-old brother (name withheld) have been accused of repeatedly raping a seven-year-old girl in Oko, Aguata, Anambra state.

The mother of the alleged victim, Miss Chinenyenwa Ozulumba, 27, spoke out on Sunday, September 13, in Awka. She said the boys who allegedly raped her daughter are the sons of her landlady, Mrs Nnabuife Okoli.

Ozulumba, a single mother, said her daughter was defiled by the boys because she trusted them and entrusted her to their care whenever she went to work in a nearby bar.

She said the accommodation was secured for her by her employer, who is also from Agulezechukwu town where she hails from, and because she did not want to expose her little daughter to her work environment due to the social hazard, she decided to always leave her behind with her landlady whom she had taken as her adopted mother.

On Aug. 22, a day she did not go to work, she said she overheard the landlady's children making jokes of their escapades whenever she was away and after a while, her daughter began to cry.

Ozulumba said when she asked her daughter what the matter was, she told her that she and the sons of the landlady used to have sex.

The young mother said when she drew the attention of the landlady to the revelation, she didn't take action.

The mother of the victim said: "A 23-year-old boy and an 11-year-old boy have allegedly been defiling my daughter; when I got to know about it, I reported to their mother and she did not show any form of amazement or remorse, making feel that she was aware of it.

"At that point, I took my daughter inside and sent for the younger boy who confirmed to me that it was true that he was having sex with my daughter in front of his elder sister.

"The minor recalled that there was day they were having sex with my daughter and she was crying but their mother did not react to her anguish.

"When Chidinma heard that I am now aware of the rape going on with my daughter, he started threatening to beat me up, asking if I did not do it while growing up.

"At that point, their mother joined in threatening violence against me and my daughter.

"That was how they started threatening to beat my child and even take her to a shrine if she dares to include the name of the 23-year-old again, telling her to say that it was only the 11-year-old that slept with her."

Ozulumba said that after she discovered her daughter had been defiled, she visited the Police several times, as well as the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Awka. for her daughter to be examined.

Ozulumba recalled that at COOUTH, after examination, she was verbally informed that there was penetration but they refused to make the report available, thus making it a challenge for her to prove her case.

She said she also reported the matter to the Police Area Command, Uga, Aguata, where she was issued a Police Medical Report form but was not able to get the report after visiting COOUTH repeatedly for three weeks.

She said: "This became a challenge for me, as the doctor that examined my child refused to write the report and the Police said they needed the result so they can charge the matter to court.

"That was how I later went to the Enugu-Ukwu General Hospital for another examination, where she was tested and scanned and we were issued a report."

The report showed that the hymen was torn, and some bruises were on it," she said.

Ozulumba said her former employer and landlady had been threatening her to withdraw the matter or face untoward consequences.

She said a Police officer visited her village and invited her to come to the Police X-Squad Unit in Awka with the aim of making her a defendant in her own case.

Ozulumba said she had visited the Police X-Squad in company of the Coordinator of Child Rights Brigade International (CRIB), an NGO, where she and her child were asked to make statements.

"All I need is justice for my daughter, I am not with anybody in this matter but God and people of good heart; the suspects should be made to face the law and prove their innocence and if they are found guilty, they should be punished so that others will learn not to take advantage of the girl child,” she said.

Mr Obiora Nnaemeka, Coordinator of CRIB in Anambra, said the matter was reported to their office on Sept. 3 and they had been following the development since then, assuring that they would stand by the victim and her mother in the course of the crisis.

Ezeokoli, mother of the suspects, told NAN that "nothing happened, the girl is just trying to rope them; it only involves the small boy."

Oracle 'wins bid to buy TikTok's US operation' after the Chinese app rejected Microsoft

 Oracle

American computer technology giant, Oracle Corporation has reportedly won the bidding for TikTok's US operations after the Chinese app rejected Microsoft.

According to Bloomberg, a Wall Street Journal reported that Oracle would be announced as TikTok’s trusted tech partner in the United States. The Journal also added that the eventual deal would not be structured as an outright sale.

A statement from Redmond reads, “ByteDance let us know today they would not be selling TikTok’s US operations to Microsoft.”

This comes after ByteDance disclosed that they would not be selling TikTok’s US operations to Microsoft.

According to a source, Microsoft, which was working with Walmart Inc, had initially been recognized as the most likely winner earlier in the process, until more firms including Oracle Corporation showed interest.

Microsoft earlier said in a statement that it was prepared to make changes aimed at protecting national security interests. It said, “To do this, we would have made significant changes to ensure the service met the highest standards for security, privacy, online safety, and combating disinformation, and we made these principles clear in our August statement. We look forward to seeing how the service evolves in these important areas.”

Back in August, President Donald Trump signed executive orders banning social media apps TikTok and WeChat from operating in the US in 45 days if they are not sold by their Chinese-owned parent companies.

In the executive order, which declares TikTok a "national emergency", Mr Trump claims the app "automatically captures vast swaths of information from its users," such as location data and browsing and search histories, which "threatens to allow the Chinese Communist Party access to Americans' personal and proprietary information -- potentially allowing China to track the locations of Federal employees and contractors, build dossiers of personal information for blackmail, and conduct corporate espionage."

For WeChat, which allows its users to transfer funds to each other, the order states it will ban financial transactions with Tencent, a Chinese based company.

The order read: "any transaction that is related to WeChat by any person, or with respect to any property, subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, with Tencent Holdings Ltd. (a.k.a. Téngxùn Kòngg? Y?uxiàn G?ngs?), Shenzhen, China, or any subsidiary of that entity, as identified by the Secretary of Commerce (Secretary) under section 1(c) of this order."

Granting amnesty to Boko Haram members cannot bring peace - Senator Ndume

Granting amnesty to Boko Haram members cannot bring peace - Senator Ndume

Senator Ali Ndume, the lawmaker representing Borno South in the red chamber and the Chairman of the senate committee on Army has again kicked against the amnesty granted to Boko Haram members

The lawmaker who urged the federal government to change its tactics in granting amnesty to repentant insurgents after undergoing a six-month De-radicalization, Rehabilitation and Re-integration training via the Operation Safe Corridor programme, maintained that it is wrong to grant amnesty to terrorists when the war is still far from over.

Ndume called for more resources to be channelled to resettling the victims of insurgents, while also pointing out that granting amnesty to Boko Haram insurgents without apologizing to the victims and the state cannot bring about the required peace.

He told newsmen on Sunday September 13;

“The war must be over before we start doing that.

“The military could open up the corridor, allow everybody to enter and start profiling them and keep them somewhere as prisoners of war and train them.

“The current arrangement where the repentant insurgents are granted amnesty without apologizing to the victims and the state cannot bring about the required peace.

“Despite the difficult challenges confronting the military operation in my area, the soldiers deployed to fight the insurgents have been very wonderful.

“At Ngoshe for instance, the military personnel there, apart from repelling the attacks from the insurgents, have mobilized resources to start rebuilding, through direct labour, houses that were destroyed by the Boko Haram fighters. The soldiers did not know the owners of the  houses they are rebuilding.”

Ugandan businessman to pay 10 cows, 3 goats reparation to family, after publicly confessing to killing their son (video)

Ugandan businessman to pay 10 cows, 3 goats reparation to family, after publicly confessing to killing their son (video)

Ugandan businessman, Mathew Kanyamunyu, on Saturday afternoon, September 12, 2020, admitted to killing a child rights activist, Kenneth Akena Watson and agreed to pay 10 cows and three goats reparation for the offence.

Ugandan businessman to pay 10 cows, 3 goats reparation to family, after publicly confessing to killing their son (video)

Born on November 29, 1983 in Gandyang town, Kitgum district, late Akena, pictured above was working with ACODEV as a child protection specialist under a USAID project at the time of his death in 2016.

It was gathered that Akena accidentally knocked Kanyamunyu's car in a parking lot in Lugogo, Kampala, and had reportedly gone to apologise to Kanyamunyu after the accident, when Kanyamunyu lowered the window of his car and shot him in the stomach with a pistol at close range. According to the family, a postmortem report revealed two bullets inside Akena's body.

Akena died a few hours later at Norvic hospital, where he had been taken by the accused.

Kanyamunyu has since then been on trial together with his Burundian girlfriend Cynthia Munwangari and sibling Joseph Kanyamunyu who allegedly hid the killer gun. But throughout the trial, Kanyamunyu and his girlfriend insisted that they only took Akena to hospital as good Samaritans.

Ugandan businessman to pay 10 cows, 3 goats reparation to family, after publicly confessing to killing their son (video)

However, in an alleged dying declaration, Akena reportedly told his relatives that he was shot by the same people who took him to hospital.

Last month, Kanyamunyu’s family sought the intervention of Acholi Religious Leaders Peace Initiative (ARLPI) and Acholi Cultural Institution to broker a reconciliation agreement between them and Akena’s family to find a closure to the case.

Dr John Baptist Odama, the Gulu Archbishop backed by Rwot David Onena Acana II, the paramount chief of Acholi persuaded Akena’s family who in turn opened up to the negotiations. The reconcilers summoned the two families for the first meeting that was held on Saturday,  in Gulu.

The meeting that was held under tents at Ker Kwaro Acholi compound, was presided over by Rwot Acana II as a chief witness. A council of six elders cross-examined Kanyamunyu as a requisite step of prior to Mato Oput - a clan or family-centred reconciliation practice.

A family source privy to the negotiations says that Kanyamunyu, pictured above, made a step by step recount of what happened between him and Akena on November 12, 2016, at Forest shopping mall in Lugogo before he pleaded for clemency from Ogom chiefs, Akena’s clan leaders.

“He admitted that he will make the same confession before the High court in Kampala where he is being prosecuted to allow him to enter a plea bargain,” a source said.

The same source added that after the confession, the elders on the protocol of Mato Oput made an assessment of 10 cows and three goats to be paid by Kanyamunyu’s family to which they agreed.

Asked what drove him to pull a trigger on an innocent man, Kanyamunyu said up to this day, he has never comprehended the level of "stupidity", "foolishness" or "evil" that he even did not know he had in him on that fateful day when he pulled the trigger.

"To be honest I would be lying to you if I told you that I have fully comprehended the tragedy of that day to date. The stupidity, the foolishness, the evil that I exhibited on that day is not something I knew was in. But now I recognize, now I recognize within me, deep within me, there is evil that I did not know about." Kanyamunyu said.

"I can never comprehend ever the magnitude of what is inside me and that is the reason that I’m remorseful, that I’m sorry and that is the reason I ask for your forgiveness, I ask for your understanding and for time for this healing process to begin and for time for me to comprehend the magnitude of the tragedy," Kanyamunyu added.

Under the ultimate Acholi tradition justice system of Mato Oput , the accused person must admit his/her mistake through a meaningful confession and must also accept to pay reparations for the damages caused.

Ambrose Olaa, the prime minister of Acholi Cultural Institution confirmed the reconciliation meeting. He said the exercise was conducted at Ker Kwaro Acholi by the Ogom clan under the Payira chiefdom of Acholi ethnic group.

The trial of Kanyamunyu and his co-accused was earlier this year adjourned indefinitely by presiding judge Stephen Mubiru, the Gulu resident judge.

However, Akena’s family members remain optimistic about the pursuit of traditional justice by Kanyamunyu’s family will not derail them from continuing with criminal proceedings already before the court.

Trader crushed to death in Lagos by 16-year-old trying to move his mum's car which was obstructing traffic (photo)

Trader crushed to death in Lagos by 16-year-old trying to move his mum

A 50-year-old trader, Mrs. Tuale Iwejim, has died after she was hit by a 16-year-old boy who was using his mother’s SUV to test his driving skills at the Arena Shopping Mall, Oshodi, Lagos State.

According to a report by Punch, Tuale was in the shopping complex to purchase some items for her shop when she was knocked down by the SUV. The teenager and his mum were in the shopping complex to pick up some times. His mum went back to pick their remaining items and asked him to wait in their vehicle. While waiting, some persons began to complain that the SUV was obstructing the free flow of traffic in the complex. Instead of informing them that he couldn't drive, the teenager took the keys from his mother's bag and hopped on the driver's seat. He was said to have put it in reverse and hit the 50-year-old two times.

Mrs Iwejim was rushed to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi Araba, Surulere, where she had surgery before her death on Thursday, September 4, 2020.

Her husband, Christopher Iwejim, who recounted the unfortunate incident said

''We were told that the boy and his mother went to the market to buy some things. After they did, the woman asked the son to wait for her in the car so that she could go and pack the remaining items.

“While the boy was inside the car, somebody shouted that the vehicle was obstructing traffic and asked the occupant to park well. Instead of him to say he was not the driver, he took the key from the mother’s bag and started driving.

“He managed to engage the gear on drive, but forgot to use the brake. That was how he hit Tuale. While struggling to put it on reverse, he hit her again. She sustained what I will call first degree injuries on both legs from her waist down. The boy also damaged some billboards and structures in the market.”Iwejim said

The N400,000, which the Delta State indigene borrowed to buy goods in the market, was stolen while she was being extricated from the wreckage.

The son of the deceased, Amos, said his mother spent about three weeks at the hospital, where doctors battled to save her life.

“When the accident happened, she was stuck in a gas cylinder, and when they tried to remove her, some parts of her flesh got torn. Her hip bone was divided from her body. It also appeared like there were iron rods in her leg and there was a hole in the leg” he said

The family of the deceased said they reached an agreement with the family of the teenager to share the medical bills 50-50. However, the teenager’s mother identified as Victoria Ogunleye, was said to have showed up at the hospital twice with N100,000 on each occasion while the family of the deceased spent as much as N1.5m.

The son of the deceased frowned at the military's decision to release the confiscated SUV of the Ogunleye's to them despite the fact that his mum was still in the hospital.

“The military police called my dad and said the woman wanted to pick her vehicle, and he told them not to release it. But to our surprise, they released the vehicle to the family.

LUTH later said they wanted to perform a surgery on her. A day after the surgery, she became unstable and they called my dad to ask if he could afford the ICU, because her breathing was not good. He agreed. They put her there, but she passed away the third day.”

After her death, both families had a meeting where the Iwejims demanded that the teenager's family bear the cost of burial and fulfill the agreement to share the medical cost by 50 percent.

The Military is yet to comment on the incident.
