Woman narrates how a stranger allegedly assaulted her when she refused to accept a ride from him

A woman has narrated how refusing the advances of a man led to an altercation that landed her in trouble with the law as police intervened and allegedly took his side.

@naebili said a man in a car offered her a lift but she declined and crossed to the other side of the road to take a bike.

While on the bike, the man's car overtook the bike and suddenly stopped in front of the bike blocking their way. This move almost caused an accident as the bike man nearly crashed into the car.

She claimed the man then accosted her and said: "How can I be talking to you and you'll just walk away like that? That's not how they do things nah. You girls won't know who you're talking to, you'll just be behaving anyhow."

She said she tried to cross over to the other side of the road but the man grabbed the belt loop of her jean trousers, pulled her back, and slapped her.

In anger, she picked up bricks and threw at the man's car.

She said the police arrived at this point and took the man's side. They took them both to the station, demonised her, then asked her to pay for the man's broken window.

Fortunately for her, she made a call to a friend and the friend called a senior police officer who came to her rescue.

She concluded the thread, writing: "I'm tired of living in Nigeria, I'm tired of being a target, I'm tired of being abused /assaulted, I'm tired of men. I just want all of these things to end. I just want to experience a crumb of freedom. I JUST WANT TO EXIST AS A PERSON AND NOT A MOTHER F**KING PREY."

After she shared her thread, Twitter users showed her support and some made calls to her.

She later gave an update that a man took up the alleged assault case and her abuser is sleeping in the cell tonight.

Army didn’t learn from murder of Boko Haram founder - Suswam speaks on killing of wanted militia leader, Gana

Army didn?t learn from murder of Boko Haram founder - Suswam speaks on killing of wanted militia leader, Gana

Former Governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam has reacted to the killing of Terwase Akwaza a.k.a Gana, said to be the most wanted criminal in the state.

In a statement released on Wednesday September 9, Suswam stated that security operatives are yet to learn their lesson from the crisis triggered by the killing of Mohammed Yusuf, founder of the Boko Haram sect.

The Benue Senator also backed Governor Ortom on his claim of Gana being ambushed while on his way to surrender. He also disclosed that the killing of the militia leader has heightened tension in the area.

Suswam said;

“The lessons of the Boko Haram escalation after a similar murder of its leader are still here with us. If this method is accepted as a norm in our country, there will be no need for laws and courts.

“We stand to benefit more by subjecting suspects to due process of the law. Information extracted from a living Gana would have helped security agents get to the root of activities of criminals.

“By this gestapo style execution, we have missed an opportunity to learn vital lessons about the structure of crime in the area. Even war criminals captured alive are entitled to certain rights.

“I was totally dumbfounded to learn that while Gana was on his way to Makurdi the state capital to present himself to the State Governor who was waiting, his long convoy that included political leaders, Traditional rulers, clergy men and security agencies was ambushed by allegedly armed soldiers and he isolated and taken away.

“In the midst of the confusion, pictures began to circulate on social media of the bullet ridden body of Gana with a rifle callously placed on his side.

“Our joy was multiplied when we saw him along with his militia surrender arms and publicity renounce a life of crime. Our revered king extracted a pledge from him never to turn his kingdom into a wasteland.

“Those present at this forum heaved a great sigh of relief with the thought that finally, a life full of uncertainty has come to and end.

“This is a time to heal and not war. This is a time to hold each other to our common values as human beings. This is a time to rebuild our fractured society. This is a time to rally together as brothers and say Enough is Enough.”

FFK berates Tinubu for failing to stand up to greet Ooni of Ife at a function (video)

Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Minister of Aviation, has berated former Lagos State governor, Bola Tinubu, for failing to stand up to greet the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, at the Coronation of the Oniru of Iruland in Lagos state on Sunday, September 6.

The Ooni of Ife had arrived at the event and was walking to the high table when he stopped by to greet Tinubu.

Some Nigerians took to social media to bash Tinubu for failing to accord the monarch his respect by standing up to greet him. Others have also condemned the monarch for stopping to greet Tinubu.

In a tweet posted this morning, FFK says it was "insulting and shameful" for Tinubu to have refused to stand up to greet the monarch.

''That the Asiwaju of Bourdillon refused to stand up to greet the Ooni of Ife speaks volumes. This was not only deeply insulting to every Ife & indeed son & daughter of Odua but it is also a crying shame. Would a northern pol. leader refuse to stand up for his traditional ruler?''his tweet reads

Edo Commissioner resigns from Governor Obaseki’s cabinet 10 days to election

Edo Commissioner resigns from Governor Obaseki?s cabinet 10 days to election

Edo state commissioner for minerals, oil and gas, Joseph Ikpea on Wednesday September 9 resigned from Governor Godwin Obaseki's cabinet.

The Commissioner who resigned from his position 10 days to the governorship election in the state, cited not being able to abandon the All Progressives Congress (APC) which he helped grow in Esan south local government area as the reason for his resignation.

Ikpea who became the third commissioner to resign from Obaseki's government, said in his resignation letter;

“This is to inform you that I am resigning my present appointment. I want to sincerely thank his Excellency, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, for the opportunity given to me to serve under his administration as the Commissioner for Minerals, Oil and Gas.

“One of the reasons why I am resigning is that politics is all about interest, trust and respect for one another, but I have never seen anything of this till date, and I am also not sure of it even if there is tomorrow.

“Moreover, the party that’s known today as All Progressive Congress APC, was brought to Esan south LGA by me, and over 90% of my supporters are APC members till date, so it is difficult to leave the house I built. Considering also that this administration did not recognise my leadership role, even as a commissioner I get information either from ward Chairmen, LGA Chairman, or SSA to Mr. Governor.

“I will continue to give his Excellency my support at any time the need arises. I wish you success in all your endeavours.”

A pastor in Onicha-Olona, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, Emmanuel Mokogwu, has been arrested for allegedly extorting the sum of N350,000 from a woman who he claimed was about to die.

The clergyman who claimed he was ordained at the Winners’ Chapel four years ago, visited the victim, Theresa Okolie, at her home and told her he saw a vision where the spirit of untimely death was hovering around her. The victim claimed the clergyman fraudulently collected N350, 000 from her to be used to cleanse her home of demonic spirit and also pray against the spirit of death.

“I think the pastor used a charm on me because immediately he told me that my house was covered in darkness and harboured the spirit of untimely death, I started running about to gather money for him.

I gave him N350,000 that I kept for my farm and in the process of borrowing the balance from a friend, the police were alerted.” the victim said
